Where and how are your products manufactured?
All our products are handmade in our own factory in Frankfurt
am Main, Germany. We do everything ourselves here - from design, to mould making, to casting & finishing. Our
products go through up to 30 different production steps. The production therefore requires a lot of concentration
and attention to detail. That's why we pay attention to good working conditions and fair pay for the people who make
up Concrete Jungle. And not only in our own production, but also with our suppliers.
High-tech concrete or UHPC - What does it mean?
For our products we used specially developed variations of
the so-called Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC). This is a classification for high-performance concretes, which
are normally used in filigree architecture as well as for machine components.
How is your concrete different from regular concrete?
Our types are extremely robust, stable and
self-compacting. Our concrete has a very high compressive strength of 100-150 N/mm², which is up to 12 times
stronger than normal concrete. It is also in no way rough, porous or brittle. When properly mixed, our grades can be
harder than steel and form a very dense, up to mirror smooth surface. Important: These types of concrete cannot be
compared with DIY store concrete, neither in terms of quality nor price. In the processing of concrete is much more
complex and you need special compulsory mixers. We have worked long on this craft, learned & developed various
techniques and tinkered with the recipes for a long time.
Does concrete always look the same from the surface?
No, the following properties and manifestations of
concrete are normal and cannot be prevented:
• slight deviations in color and texture
• streaking and small irregularities or dots on the surface
• Air
inclusions such as small pores, dents, fine cracks or air bubbles (especially at the edge)
Does the appearance of concrete change over time?
Yes. Concrete is - similar to wood or leather - a natural
& above all open-pored material. Water, grease, oils or coloring liquids penetrate the material depending on the
type of sealing and can leave traces. This can result in stains forming a patina that is common to concrete or
fading over time.
How do you do it that the concrete can be black, white or colored?
We use iron oxide pigments in our mixes
to produce our concrete in different colors.
